Spotlight: Thriving 5yo who has won her last three (6f/5.5f, good), all under Lauren Young, most recently the Portland at Doncaster last Saturday; has won here three times and is effective on good to soft; this front-runner is able to run off 2lb lower than at Doncaster and could be tough to catch.
Spotlight: Has come from the rear for her two wins this season (6f/7f, good to firm; versatile ground-wise); looked as good as ever when keeping on for third at Haydock (7f, good) a fortnight ago and a strongly run 6f in a big field could prove ideal for this progressive filly; on the shortlist.
Spotlight: Got no run when favourite at Thirsk a fortnight ago and a line can be put through that race; effective in a big field and has an each-way shout on this year's best form (on various ground); wears first-time cheekpieces.
Spotlight: His losing run is up to 12 but he went close over C&D (good to soft) in July before 3l second at Chepstow (7f, good to soft) behind one who raced alone; won the Silver Cup in 2023 and he's one to consider.
Spotlight: 3yo who was a close third in a big field at York (6f, good) in June then won at Doncaster (6f, good to soft); beaten just a head by Top Juggler at Carlisle (6f, good) this month and is 3lb well in today; chance.
Spotlight: Progressive since these cheekpieces went on, winning at Doncaster (5.5f, good) and Epsom (6f, good) and finishing a close third of 16 to Eternal Sunshine at Thirsk (6f, good) recently despite having to wait for a clear run; he's right at home on slow ground and could play a leading role.
Spotlight: Two-time 7f course winner (heavy/good) who has been consistent in defeat here this season and was runner-up over today's C&D (good to firm) last month on a rare crack at sprinting; each-way claims once more.
Spotlight: 5yo who made it four wins for the season when scoring at Ripon (6f, good) last month; has also won on soft/good to soft; fared best of those drawn in single-figure stalls when close fourth of 16 to Eternal Sunshine at Thirsk (6f, good) a fortnight ago and he's not ruled out.
Spotlight: He's done all of his winning over 7f/1m (four of them here) but he kept on well for third of 18 in the Gold Cup Trial over C&D (good to soft) in July, when denied a clear run; a strong pace in this big field will set things up nicely for him, provided he gets the breaks; possible player.
Spotlight: Reappeared with a win at Musselburgh (7f, good) and runner-up on next two starts (6f, good to firm); has won here twice and is probably fine on slow ground; however, his progress has stalled on his last two outings and he needs a boost from the first-time blinkers (replacing cheekpieces).
Spotlight: C&D winner (soft) who has won five times this year, the latest when making all in a big field at York (6f, good to firm) in June, and he's been third at Ripon on his last two outings; each-way contender.
Spotlight: Somewhat wayward in first-time blinkers (retained) at Doncaster (6f, good) last Friday but nevertheless returned to form with a close fourth of 15; his wins have come on slow ground and he might not be far away.
Spotlight: Hasn't threatened since winning in good style at Carlisle (5f, good to soft) in May and he's 2lb higher than when mid-division at Doncaster (5f, soft) last Sunday; however, he stayed on well and wasn't beaten far, and the return to 6f is worth exploring; first-time cheekpieces replace blinkers.
Spotlight: Second of 15 at Haydock (6f, good) in July and kept on strongly when close fifth of 14 at Newcastle (5f, AW) last month; each-way claims now back up to 6f, provided the ground suits (unproven on a slow surface).
Spotlight: 9yo who has regressed and isn't easy to win with; well beaten at Thirsk (6f, good) recently but slow ground is his thing and he was denied a clear run off his reduced mark when sixth of 18 in the Gold Cup Trial over C&D (good to soft) in July; cheekpieces return (no positive impact previously); interesting contender if conditions are in his favour.
Spotlight: Prominent racer who won at Thirsk (6f, good) in July and is versatile ground-wise; has run pretty well on his last two starts and can give another good account, but needs something extra to win this competitive race.
Spotlight: 3yo who won two in a row in June (6f, good) before close thirds on his next two starts (including over C&D on good to soft); his form dipped at Chester three weeks ago but he's an each-way possible if bouncing back.
Spotlight: Close second at Hamilton (5f, good to soft) in June and went one better there (5f, good) 11 days later; effective over 6f in the past; however, down the field on his last two outings and needs to get back on track.
Spotlight: Soft-ground 2yo winner for Quinn yard last August and beat Territorial Knight by a head to win on recent stable debut at Carlisle (6f, good); could have more to offer for this yard and not ruled out under 5lb penalty.
Spotlight: Won at Kempton (6f, AW) recently, for which she carries a 5lb penalty; has won four times on turf (good-soft) but her last three wins have come on AW; needs to improve upon what she's shown on grass over the last 12 months.
Spotlight: Four-time winner whose mark has fallen 12lb this season, but he hasn't been shaping as though he's about to exploit it; a visor goes on.
Spotlight: Five AW wins early this year (5f/6f) and off the mark on turf at Haydock (7f) in May; his subsequent form has been mixed, however, and he's yet to shine on slow ground; others are more compelling.
Spotlight: 3yo who easily won 6f AW novice in June on third start but he needs to improve upon what he's shown in his three handicaps this summer.
Spotlight: Placed on first three starts of the season and has a lower mark today; however, those were at his favourite course Ripon and subsequent efforts haven't been up to scratch (at York/Ripon); this 9yo is probably vulnerable.
Spotlight: Easily made all in a small field at Yarmouth (6f, good) in June and has also won on good to soft; however, he's finished no better than eighth across his last three outings; wears a first-time hood.

It is hard to get away from the thriving mare ETERNAL SUNSHINE (nap), who completed a quick hat-trick in the Portland at Doncaster last Saturday and is able to run off a 2lb lower mark this afternoon. The progressive Winged Messenger was a close third to Eternal Sunshine at Thirsk on September 6 despite being denied a clear passage and could be the chief danger. A strongly run 6f could be ideal for the selection's stablemates Yaaser and Mostar Dreams, who are next on the list in that order. The 2023 Silver Cup winner Wobwobwob could also be firmly involved along with the well-treated Woven.[Ben Hutton] Show less
