There are significant queries over lots of them but MINHAD brings a bit of potential to this second campaign, which started so well when he made his handicap breakthrough at Thirsk. Great Bedwyn, last year's winner of this race, has not prevailed since but he is feared most off his reduced mark, while Master Builder has fallen much too far in the weights to be passed over lightly. Mafting and Lightening Company arrive having been highly competitive twice each recently but those races were Class 5 rather than today's Class 4. Substantial rain would bring Galyx firmly into the argument.[Richard Austen] Show less
Spotlight: Last seen floundering on heavy going in the November Handicap at Doncaster; the clear highpoint of that campaign was his second at Epsom (1m4f, good; stays 1m6f) in April, which came first time out and points up his chance given that he is now 11lb lower; needs a second look.
Spotlight: Peak efforts have been on soft or heavy ground, including two wins as 3yo and a creditable place last June when last seen (1m3f; not proven over this far); only eight races in total and he could still have more to give, but substantial rain may be needed; withdrawn twice recently when it didn't arrive.
Spotlight: Ran poorly on final start last term but gelded soon afterwards and, with visor/blinkers dispensed with, he returned with a narrow win in 12-runner race at Thirsk (1m4f, good) last month, gradually working his way to the front in final strides under 7lb claimer Kyle McHugh; 4lb higher today but could have more to offer in what's only his second campaign.
Spotlight: Won this (good to firm) on return last year by a neck off 4lb higher than today; subsequent efforts have never quite lived up to that, albeit runner-up on Kempton AW last September and this March; first 1m2f run for ages when disappointing on latest start; could bounce back with each-way claims.
Spotlight: Failed to crack it in 2025 handicaps but reappeared to win off a reduced mark in nine-runner race at Redcar (1m2f) this April; second of six when 10-11 at Doncaster (1m4f, again good to firm) 12 days later, which was just as good on form; each-way contender but a bit extra is needed if he's to take this.
Spotlight: No win since May 2024 when trained by Sir Michael Stoute (below form last year for Kevin Ryan) but second of 14 off almost a career-low mark at Musselburgh (1m4f, good; under Zak Wheatley) one month ago was easily his most competitive show since; back up 2lb and needs to build on that revival.
Spotlight: Had four wins last year (three 1m, one 1m2f) and has run with credit on all four starts this term, but his only attempt over this far was in 2024; needs a career best to get his head in front again.
Spotlight: Did well last spring and placed five consecutive times last summer/autumn; now well handicapped on those exploits but down the field in his three appearances this year; latest was in a 1m4f race at Chester last week, where he'd been runner-up the year before, so there are doubts currently.
Spotlight: Six wins last July-October, with the initial success over 1m2f/1m1f followed by four wins at 1m or 7f; good second on 1m1f reappearance this term but a disappointing favourite two weeks later; even if he's back to form, this sort of trip (tried twice before) poses a big question.
Spotlight: Two wins last summer, with two minor honours in the autumn including one here; ended last year on a low note and started this one with another, while pedigree leaves him with plenty to prove on this first go at 1m4f.
Spotlight: First foal; half-brother to recent 1m2f debut winner Fighter's Spirit; dam French 7f winner (RPR 80), half-sister to three Listed winners headed by Elite Army (113); had three runs at Meydan in winter 2024-25 for Osama Refai, beaten about 9l when ninth of 15 in a 1m4f handicap on final occasion; flimsy claims on this first run since.
Spotlight: Form figures of 5075 at this meeting in the last four years; one win a season had previously appeared his quota but he's already exceeded that in 2026, having scored at Pontefract (1m4f/1m2f) on last two outings; that demands some respect but this race is a higher grade.
Spotlight: Second or third every time in September-January in his seven races for the Gosdens, most AW; tried as far as 1m6f and in two forms of headgear; sold for 65,000gns in February and has now had wind surgery and has his tongue tied first time; competitive mark in theory but clearly questions to answer.
Spotlight: Dual soft-ground winner (1m4f/2m) in France for Christophe Ferland last autumn, from just four races in total; picked up for 105,000euros in November; no surprise were he to develop into another useful handicapper for this yard and he needs a check for any confidence behind him in the betting market; withdrawn when the ground was good to firm at Ascot on Saturday.
Spotlight: Formerly useful for Kevin Ryan but was sold last July and has been comfortably held since on the Flat and over hurdles; this tongue-tie (tried once in 2023) returned on latest outing, along with first-time hood; 17lb below his peak mark, but no win since he scored twice at York in 2023.
Spotlight: Twice runner-up over 2m from five visits here, plus fourth of 20 in this race in 2024; ran creditably over 1m4f on 2025 return and is 11lb lower for this reappearance, but others seem to be banging on the door more loudly.
Spotlight: Left Ralph Beckett after 1m2f Redcar novice win (good to soft) in October; that form has not been reached in her five handicaps since, most at 1m but never dangerous latest when back up to 1m4f at Thirsk; others preferred.
